Event Background

The new Qualified Invoice System is scheduled to take into effect on October 1, 2023. While it's not a required action, we think it's important to understand the pros and cons of implementing the change. We are here to help answer any questions and help anyone that would like to proceed with the registration process.

According to recent reports, the number of tax-exempt businesses that have registered for the invoice system is low, at about 10%. However, we are seeing rising interest and inquiries from our freelancers and clients regarding this upcoming change.

We understand that this new system may be confusing for freelancers and other business professionals in Japan and registration can feel like a daunting task.

To support the freelancing community, we are bringing our very own certified tax accountant to provide direct support for anybody that is looking for help with the new Qualified Invoice System registration process! Come learn more about the new system and for those who would like assistance, we'll also walk you through the registration process, step by step.

Tax Accountant

After graduating from university, he worked at Japan Finance Corporation, where he provided financial services for small and medium sized businesses. Passing the CPA exam in 2015, he then joined KPMG AZSA & Co. where he worked mainly in auditing and IPO support services for listed companies in the media and technology fields. In 2021, he started his own business and is currently engaged in accounting, taxation, and advisory services for startups and freelancers.

■ What to bring

If you wish to register electronically
Please bring your laptop, e-Tax user identification number & PIN, and my number card.

If you wish to register by paper / in person
Please bring your My Number card. We will prepare and provide the paper documents.
(*Please submit the completed documents to the tax office by yourself at a later date.)

Beverages and snacks will be provided at the venue for the event.
Cancellations made 7 days or more in advance of the event date, will receive a full refund.
No refunds will be provided within 7 days of the event date unless in exceptional circumstances that will be reviewed at our discretion.
